Once a “sleeping city”, Kadıköy has been the subject of intensive building renovation after the 1999-earthquake. The district center, which has inevitably gained the characteristics of a commercial and living center in recent years, is rapidly turning into the most important cultural center of Istanbul with its theaters and entertainment venues. The invasion of Beyoğlu by tourists, mostly from Arab countries, on the one hand, and the transformation of Beşiktaş, which is tightly connected to Kadıköy by sea, into a student campus on the other, has transformed Kadıköy, which we can define as the most cultured district of Istanbul, into perhaps the most important center of the city. This important center undoubtedly has many problems and agendas that have been discussed for many years. Haydarpaşa Station, Hasanpaşa Gas Station, Validebağ Grove have been important urban solidarity agendas.
